Integrative Seminar – Letters to Self

Dear 7-year old me,

Seeing this picture, I remember it is from a summer vacation back in 2007 at my grandparents’s in Jalandhar, Punjab where all the cousins had collected together for an outdoor games party. We played games like hide and seek, and more running games the entire evening and I remember my grandmother preparing noodles and chicken for all of us that day. She had even baked a delicious chocolate cake. The reason why I clearly remember this day is because I had over eaten beyond my limit and eventually fallen sick! Advice to self – eat in your limit, no matter how delicious the food may be!

Dear 5-year old me,

This picture reminds me of the day when my father got me this doll from Kolkata, when he was returning home after a work trip. He bought this doll for me because I used to love the colour blue back in the day and had an unusually large obsession with dolls, and Barbie in particular. This doll was my prized possession and I would never sleep without this doll. The obsession for blue can clearly be seen in this picture!

Dear 8-year old me,

Seeing this picture, I can clearly remember this day and how much I fussed to wear this dress (for the second, maybe third time in the week) for my uncle’s wedding engagement. It was a huge event in the family and everyone was dressed their best. My mother kept insisting me to wear some fresh clothes but as I was so obsessed with glitter (or literally anything that sparkles) and dresses back in the day, I clearly refused to change my favourite halter-neck shimmer dress! Fussy then, fussy now – nothing really changed!
